This weekend we are at Culburra Beach, on the New South Wales coast. We arrived about mid-morning and hit the beach for a walk. What's better than running around on a beach, off lead? Off lead fun means more opportunities to eat seaweed and roll in dead fish (not captured on film as humans were occupied attempting to curtail said behaviours). After our walk we went and had fish and chips for lunch, followed by a little rest back at the beach house we're renting. I'm pretty sure that I saw something, somewhere, about no dogs being allowed on the furniture... Obi mustn't have read that bit. After an afternoon of lounging round we had oysters, champagne, potato crisps and chocolate for dinner. Furrier members of the household had tinned sardines and a smoked pig's ear. And maybe also an oyster. And possibly some crisps. Tomorrow the aim is to get up in time for a dawn beach walk (ambitious, may be lacking a little in the execution) followed by pancakes with maple syrup for breakfast...... or minced kangaroo (menu choice dependant upon species).
Re: Obi's trip to the beach What lovely photos! I am very jealous .... walking barefoot on a beautiful beach with your gorgeous dog! 8) And drinking champagne and eating oysters!!! I was still wearing winter coat, furry hat and boots this morning on Exmoor, and sharing a kitkat with my dogs.

Re: Obi's trip to the beach Well, we didn't make it to the beach for the sunrise.... We did get there around 7am though. Some people were very excited and ran as fast as they could down the path to the beach... ..and then tried to swim to New Zealand. When we got 'home' we all had breakfast. After breakfast some people read a book or looked at a magazine, while other people chewed on a stick (after the boring humans put a stop to more exciting activities such as compulsively ripping bark off a tree in the backyard).
Re: Obi's trip to the beach Thankyou, everyone! Around noon, we went to another beach a bit further south, Currarong Beach, where we had another fish and chip feast, followed by another beach walk. Is this good to eat? If not, can I roll in it? We found a small lagoon-y thing, which offered swimming without the peril of waves. The water is brown from the tannin in the tea-trees, which stains the water. Yes, he definitely shouldn't be running with a stick..... After a long walk we went back 'home' to tidy up (for this read 'sweep a tonne of yellow fur off the floor and remove evidence of illicit dog occupancy of couch'). Then we drove back to Canberra. Some people were so tired after their weekend of sun, surf and sand that they fell asleep straight after their dinner, and dreamed happy, beach-doggie dreams.
