And here she is, acting like a lady with her paws crossed (as far as she will go, not quite like the video!)! Introduced the cue "cross" over the past couple of sessions.

Well done, lovely girl Quinn .

I confess to having gone off the boil with this since she came out of season, but last night had a quick go, Cassie is now crossing right over left to touch our object, but I haven't reduced the size or introduced the cue.

Oh well done Quinn. Also well done Cassie. I tried this again yesterday after a few days off. Red gets quite hyper - stressed I think, so not sure how much I am going to pursue this one.

Has anyone tried the ‘behind’ one - might give this a go instead?

Yes, I get what you mean, I had the feeling she wasn't enjoying it, but after missing nearly a week she seemed quite happy yesterday.

Quinn used to get quite frustrated with shaping exercises (sometimes she would bark, easily distracted/wandering away, throwing out behaviours in quick succession). The more shaping work we have done over the past 6-8 months, the better and more calm she is getting. I now make any new shaping very quick - around 5 mins a session max.

I count out 10 small treats so we have 10 tries a session.

Yes, that's what I've been doing, I find it's more than enough.

I have been training the "behind" cue but due to time, weather being rubbish and my cameraman being busy at College I haven't quite quite got there so I was wondering if there was any chance of having an extension? No worries if this isn't possible I have enjoyed training it anway. Hattie is doing so well out and about with a lot of distractions and will now recall and pop into a "behind" on cue. Charlie needs a little more work in the garden but is getting there - bless him :) x

I take my hat off to all of you who have trainined the cross paws, I lost the will to live with it  Well done :) x

I should mention my keyboard is dying and random letters keep getting missed off. Sometimes I check, sometimes not. I'm not turning into a Yorkshireman, I promise :D

Yes I do too. I have decided to put this one on the back burner.

I must say that I read your post and was a little concerned for your welfare! I think this is the first post I've ever seen with errors! ;):D

@charlie this challenge is technically up until we post the December challenge, as @snowbunny mentions these challenges don't "finish" as such anyway :)

Well we've progressed today to using a smaller object to touch, Cassie is now pretty consistently crossing right paw over left to touch it, give or take bit of manouvering occasionally, she's got the idea and seems to be enjoying it now.
Would this be the right time to introduce the cue?

Just 2 weeks to go folks! :)

We have progressed a little. Not much with Casper. Here is a little video, Casper is now in a sit position as he reliably now is using his right paw. It is more of a "wave" but I don't mind that right now. I am almost at the stage of fading out the plastic top as a lure, but will shape more of a crossover first :)
