So, our little mountain adventure holiday starts tomorrow. Two days in Banff with the pooch. Looking forward to it - the weather will be a little cool (6C both days) and there will be snow on the ground, but, oh well. Not supposed to have snow or rain while we are there. It's a four hour drive so hopefully Simba will travel ok, he's never gone that long in the car. But I'm not too worried about that part. Mostly I'm wondering how he will do in a strange place. We are bringing his bed, so hopefully he will settle down ok. And if not, well, it's only two days. I'm not expecting too much difficulty (famous last words) but hopefully it will all be good. Might be interesting to see how he copes with walking around town with lots of people and litter on the ground . Oh well there will be a lot less than in the middle of summer, at any rate. I'll keep you posted!!
So excited for you, a real adventure! Hope it goes well, and please we need lots of photos, especially snowy ones
Have a great time! I went several times to Banff. We love that place! But not with our labs, they stayed at home. Too far to travel from the Netherlands!
The drive went great! Nary a peep. We stopped halfway for a walk, which he loved, and then when we got here had a long wander around town. He did great - he really loves "downtowns" - I think the people and (more likely) all the tasty litter is the draw. Any how the leash has a "traffic control" handle which keeps him close and we used that. I was worried how he would do while we went out for supper but came back to find him curled up on the bed so obviously not suffering. We are in a little B & B cabin which is just perfect for us. One more walk after supper, then a nap, then a final pre-bed pee walk. I was tired, at any rate! He didn't have a great night, though. A bit restless half way through the night, whining to go out. But I wasn't about to go traipsing around in my PJs at four o'clock in the morning so I got him to settle by having him up on the bed with us. Slept like a baby after that. Full day of hiking today....Internet is slow here so I'll post pics when I get back. Oh, and there's no snow here!

Imagine....it's the middle of a deep Canadian winter. It's -20 outside and the snow is deep. You are very, very snug in your bed. Simba whines....it's 3am. You can get up, out of your oh-so-warm-and-snug bed, to let him out to the garden. Or you can just let him up on the bed, and he'll contribute Labrador warmth to make you even snugger. Bwahahah! Simba, you played a long game, but you've done it, I reckon.
