Today was our 5th hydrotherapy session, and what fun Juno had. She could hardly sit still for her massage prior to going into the water - she kept looking over at the pool and then looking back to me. Certainly very little hesitation in going down the ramp into the water this week. She picked up her favourite toy at the top of the ramp (a squeaky yellow chicken) and the next thing she was in the water and swimming off with the chicken in her mouth! She had brilliant fun swimming after toys and waiting for toys to be thrown in for her to swim after. I didn't know dogs could tread water but apparently they can after seeing Juno staying in one spot watching and waiting for me to throw the chicken. Cecile is very pleased with her progress and is surprised at how fast Juno can swim. Juno was a bit like a child today as she didn't wan to come out of the water. At the top of the ramp, while Cecile was removing some of the water from Juno's coat, Juno started picking up the tennis balls and dropping them in the water to jump back in and retrieve ;D We've decided to have another couple of hydro sessions while we gradually increase the exercise regime. Definitely want a hydro pool but don't think I'll talk OH into buying one as we've just increased our budget for buying a house back in the UK by 25K :'(
Re: Oh what fun we had Hah - Charlie's fave toy at hydro was a yellow rubber chicken! Maybe they are international standard hydro toys. ;D ;D ;D It was headless and legless by session 5 but he still always picked the chicken out of the toy basket. But then, a STARFISH arrived in the toy basket, and that was it for the chicken - fickle dog. ;D ;D ;D So glad she had a good time. Hydro is a life saver for dogs on restricted exercise, for sure....
Re: Oh what fun we had I even ordered a rubber chicken for Juno for when we have increased our exercise and can actually walk to and from the lake from the car park, although that seems along way away. I was hoping the chicken would be yellow but it's blue , but it makes the same noise ;D The chicken at Hydro keeps falling apart but we just keep putting it back together I don't think Juno really needs the extra sessions but as she has so much fun and it's such good exercise I couldn't really resist. Think next week I'll wear my wet weather gear though as I got soaked when she launched herself for he chicken at one point, my hair was dripping ;D
