Just been discussing with the specialist the results of Juno's scan last Friday. Interestingly the scan showed that the left elbow is fine with no problem whatsoever but the right has a chip of bone floating around and the 3 bones don't joint quite as well as they should. We think that she was showing lameness on the left to compensate for the painful right! Plan of action is for surgery on Thursday to remove the bone chip and then 3-4 weeks rest although he says 2 weeks would probably be enough but taking no chances. It is anticipated that she will suffer with arthritis as she gets older but she should be able to have a pretty normal life after the surgery. Thursday is going to be a stressful waiting for the call that the op is over and all is well - especially as my husband is away and doesn't get back until late on Thursday afternoon.
Re: Operation date It's good that you have a date to plan for. I'm sure it'll all go really well, even though it's very stressful... It sounds like the op will make a big difference to Juno.
Re: Operation date Hi, Good luck for Thursday, am pleased it's all moving along speedily for you, and such good news about her left elbow being fine too, that should help her recovery so much. Natalie (and Monty sends a gently ear nibble, his preferred means of affection!)
Re: Operation date Tell Monty thank you for ear nibble (I think), Juno sends a lick back - she loves licking people (or our cats).
Re: Operation date Monty would love to lick our cats! The closest he gets is being swiped on the nose by them (at 12 and 14 they did not welcome a puppy into their previously perfect existence!)
Re: Operation date Good that you have a diagnosis and a plan of action. Fingers crossed for Thursday!
Re: Operation date A lot quicker than the NHS. I am sure everything will be fine. Will be thinking of you x
The cats aren't too impressed by Juno trying to lick them but they have both been very good with her with nothing more than Oscar trying to hit her on the head at times but no claws showing. It's quite funny watching Juno doing a doggy bow to Oscar to try and get him to play with one of her toys.
A lot quicker than the NHS. I am sure everything will be fine. I could actually choose my date for surgery so went for Thursday as it was the first available or could have been Friday. Health care over here is pretty fast, not just for animals, with Specialists referring you for scans etc and having them done straight away and getting a diagnosis the same day. Then again it's not a cheap health service either.... After paying for Juno's surgery on Thursday the bill to send to the insurers will be over 1000 euros but at least, hopefully, we'll get 70% most of that back.
Re: Operation date Very best wishes for Thursday,as soon as the op is over the recovery can begin and you are heading in the right direction. Let us know how everything goes x
