    Interesting.
I find pain fascinating. Human pain. It is so complex and multifaceted.
And so difficult to treat unfortunately.
Chronic pain is particularly difficult to manage.

This is really helpful Jo. (from the standpoint of my dog with HD)

Very useful article to encourage thinking of root cause. And I particularly related to the part about going to the vets and all appears okay all of a sudden.

We had similar with Snowie when he refused to jump into the car. We thought he was being naughty, that he wanted to go sniff on the pavement instead. He had a slipped disc. Always feel guilty about that time. However, he does have a mind of his own so it is always so difficult knowing if he has other priorities ("I just have to mark that spot over there") or whether pain is involved. Obviously now we are mindful of his back.

The difficultly with pain in dogs, I have experienced, is that they are so stoical. Sometimes the painhaviour is not that obvious.
