Hello all, So, on Saturday my mum told she had found a pea sized lump on our lab when she was petting her. The problem is, she found it when my dad was out and I was asleep, and she can't remember whereabouts the lump is. We've spent ages feeling every single area of her body for the lump, but we can't find it anywhere. Is it possible it's something not to worry about, or that it actually has disappeared? (e.g, just a spot or something?) - or that it was just a part of her skin that my mum thought was a lump? I'm worried that if we go to the vet, we still won't be able to find it and nothing will be done, we really don't have the money to go if nothing's going to happen there (I don't know if I'm wording this so it makes sense, I'm just really worried!) Have any of you ever found a lump like that on your dog? What happened?
Hi , maybe this was a bite , and the swelling has just gone down on its own ? Insect bites often cause a skin reaction , then the immune system kicks in and the site looks normal . If it were something sinister , it would not just go on its own , so I would just keep feeling all over her , to be 100% sure that there is nothing , and then don't worry about it x
Just wanted to add that its actually a good idea to feel for lumps on a regular basis . My dog was diagnosed with lymphoma last year , when I noticed a strange red raised lump on his chest . So, without wanting to cause paranoia , please do examine your dogs often , it could be a life saver x
Thank you Kate, I am thinking the lump has gone down on its own as we cannot find it anywhere! Will definitely look for bumps regularly now, as she's getting quite old..you never do know fortunately we've never found one before, though that's why it did kind of come as a shock.
