Hey guys, I have a very curious question about doing personal training with my dog. I have this problem when we are out running he does not follow me and when I use a lease well he interrupts my coordination like he can stop or start running in another direction. I don't usually want to leave him home during my morning runs. It would be much appreciated if anybody that has experienced personal training with a dog can give their input. Thank you all!

I used to run with my Alaskan Malamute, he was brilliant. I think as a sled dog, he naturally just plodded by my side without training. It came naturally to him. Labs are not like that, more nose down and want to explore. They also benefit from more free running. I don't run with my lab, I focus on her with her walk, then run for me later. I found , for us anyhow, running is not suitable for all types of dog..

I run with my girl now she’s 2 and a half. We only run where she can be off lead. We are out for1.5 hrs, running for half and playing on beach at the end. I dont focus on my times anymore, if we need to stop and chat or if she needs a reward we do stop briefly. So we are just out for the fun , she’s a good little running companion. Maybe if you are training more seriously you may need to build up to a solid run ?
