too many recalls, too many poisonings by tainted food and treats - but of course that is only 1 large chain out of many. i wish they would do it here as well. I am sure the quality of the food and treats from china, if we were to know the truth, is probably well below what anyone is willing to give their beloved pets, and if you were to really investigate exactly what is in those treats and food, you may not find what you thought you would. :-X
Re: Petco (in the US) is banning all dog food and treats from China Actually they're phasing them out and it's dog and cat treats, not food. Petco are going to sell off existing stocks and Petsmart will be out from March 2015. Both here and in the US, the sale and manufacture of pet food is highly regulated irrespective of where it is manufactured. It is the importers job to ensure compliance - sounds like they're failing miserably in this instance. I say 'sounds like' as they can't actually identify what the cause is - or one would assume the manufacturer / importer would have been hauled off to court long before now, particularly in the litigious US. But to then extrapolate this into how you can be sure the quality of food from China is well below standard and if we were to investigate what was in it you may it find is not what you thought is stretching things a little with no evidence to support that claim?
