Thrilled to say we've been invited to do some shooting and picking up during our visit to the UK.

OH thinks he can shoot and handle Poppy at the same time, so I'll be in charge of Merlin. Maybe I'll do one day picking up with Poppy, and OH can look after Merly.

I was thinking of taking Merlin along, but staying way, way back, ready to leave completely if he gets overexcited. Do you think this is a viable plan, or should I keep him completely away? He'll be 10 1/2 months old, and is by nature a calm dog, not worried by shot at all. @heidrun what would you advise?

Some people say I'm overly cautious with my dogs, Karen. For me a 10 1/2 months old pup is just too young to be out in a shooting environment. Why not bring him out to socialise and soak up the atmosphere at elevenses and leaving him in the car during the drives? I would enjoy the one last shooting season just with your girl. ;)
