Walking Charlie on his first walk of the day. He still hasn't shifted that kg, and if anything looks to have put a bit more on, so kibble is now very, very, carefully counted and under lock and key from OH. Two girls walking down the street eating sandwiches (my mother would have disapproved, but that's not the point). Charlie doesn't really react to people any more apart from looking interested and wagging his tail, but he has given up hope of actually getting to say hello. As Charlie goes passed the girls, he does a massive white shark type jump and snatch at the sandwich! Arrrgghhhh! He missed it, but only by a couple of cms. Girl alarmed (although soon calmed down). Oh no! The horror! He got very much told off (which had no impact on him whatsoever) and had to walk very close at heel for the rest of the walk. He is going to be pushing drugs next! My teenager is an out of control delinquent!
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger! And they say teenagers are the problem in society these days ;D ;D xx
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger! Oh gosh.... :-[ :-[ :-[ He has never been fed human food or scraps, we've always been super strict about his behaviour while we are eating. He gets nothing while humans are eating - although I did overhear OH saying "sorry Charlie, she's watching" once :. We don't allow him to mug pockets for kibble. Oh no. I hate dogs on the common that mug my treat bag and pockets - super annoying. I hope Charlie is not going to make a habit of this type of thing!
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger! Don't worry Julie, it's not a big deal. He did it once; you told him very firmly it was NOT ok. Now he knows.
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger!
Yeah, now he knows he has to jump just a little bit higher
I suspect so - though hope Karen is right. Telling him off has no impact on him at all - a really, really, stern telling off results in, well, nothing. He just stands there, grinning, wagging his tail as if to say "is this some kind of new game?". Then jumps up in excitement. : : :
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger! Oh Charlie *shakes head* ;D I thought I'd properly told Riley off in class the other day when the trainer pointed out his tail was still wagging :
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger! I'm only teasing I wouldn't worry too much. One instance isn't a habit.
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger! Sympathy from me, Julie. I am struggling to deal with the "oh look, a person! They love me, right?? I need to jump in their face because they loooovve me!" Haven't met anyone eating a sandwich, but knowing Simba, he'd see it as fair game....
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger!
"oh look, a person! They love me, right?? I need to jump in their face because they loooovve me!"
;D ;D ;D We've got over this mainly (in London even Charlie had to give it up eventually - too many people) apart from the postman who is just too interesting, anyone he knows well (he was beside himself to meet my brother walking back from the tube, I mean how exciting is that?), anyone who says hello to him first, and builders carrying big things. :
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger! I know it's wrong but I have had a laugh at this post Julie,Charlie Boy you are a little monkey...it won't happen again because you will be on high alert for public consumption of food!bet your mum would have said serves her right for eating walking down the street... ;D
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger! Forgot to add too Julie, this might make you feel better...you aren't alone...mum and Dad are here at the mo and yesterday we were talking about the places I've found to get Dexter off lead....mum asked about a beach she's seen on photos and I said we can't go there anymore because there a lot of fisherman and the temptation of the bait is too much for my greedy boy ( it's also where he found the chicken carcass ) Anyway mum told me about a spaniel she had that ran over to a fisherman to investigate his bait box....the fisherman was really friendly and moved the bait out of temptations way whilst he and Mum had a little chat.while they were distracted Thomas ate the fishermans sandwiches .......this same spaniel also charged a bbq ( a neighbors, not my parents) when they were away in their caravan.....Thomas had ducked out of the awning they thought he was secure in and came legging into the caravan with a pork chop in his mouth and an irate camper right behind him!......I didn't realise that spaniels were so greedy( possibly they aren't?) and I don't remember this being an aspect of Thomas's personality although I had left home by the time they got him.....so at least my dinner was always safe! ;D
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger! ;D ;D ;D I can't help celebrating Thomas' spirit! Which I suspect is a good thing since I think Charlie is turning into a dedicated and very determined food thief. We haven't had any more problems while people have been eating, he is still appears relatively trustworthy around food that is near a human in the house (if it's on the counter, it's fair game though) - no doubt part of a strategy to lull me into a false sense of security!
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger! Watch out, Julie.... Simba is pretty much good as gold* when there is people at home....but when he's alone anything is fair game.... *well, okay, silver :
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger! Gosh, even saint Sam does fly bys at pasties! That makes me feel a bit better. Lisa, Charlie is in a pen when I'm not at home and is supervised in whatever room he is in when we are at home (like an 8 weeks old puppy still). He would chew the house down if he had free access to anything!
Re: Pizza thief - now a mugger!
Sam has been known to do a " fly past grab " at a pasty before now :
Now picturing that has given me a good smile ;D x
