My grand daughter. Ella, (aged 2 3/4) and I were playing hide and seek this afternoon. Ella would hide a toy car while I shut my eyes and counted to ten, then I would find it with Ella calling out warm or cold. In the middle of the game I said that Lady was very good at hide and seek and lets play it with her, and explained that she used her nose too find hidden things. So I let Lady sniff the car then Ella hid it with Lady out of sight and we let Lady try and find it. She didn't connect the command "find" with the car first time and I had to guide her to it and praise her when she picked it up. The second time around she'd got the idea and found the car and brought it straight back - whoohoo! We repeated this a few times then I said to Ella that what Lady really liked to do was hunt out kibbles hidden around the house. So we put Lady back in the kitchen and we hid kibbles everywhere (leaving the car in the middle of the dining room table). What a hoot! Out she came and rushed around nosing the kibbles but ignoring them then jumping up to the table and grabbing the car! ;D Bless! Was that an example of "proofing the car", Pippa?
Re: Playing Hide and Seek with my Grand Daughter Oh David, thats sounds like it was really good fun , for all of you ;D ;D
Re: Playing Hide and Seek with my Grand Daughter Aw bless what fun, you will have Ella out on a shoot with you next ;D Well done Lady xx
Re: Playing Hide and Seek with my Grand Daughter bless Lady she was having great fun with the wee one
Re: Playing Hide and Seek with my Grand Daughter Yes they are both good fun. I thought it was funny the way Lady locked onto retrieving the car and ignored the kibbles.
Re: Playing Hide and Seek with my Grand Daughter Clever girl. Meg would never retrieve a ball and bring it back to us, she just used to run up to it, sit down, look at us as if to say, well you threw it you come and get it but if a child threw a ball she would go and get it, bring it back and drop it at the childs feet. Re: Playing Hide and Seek with my Grand Daughter Katie loves to play fetch especially out on our daily walks. The other day I started trying to hide when she was running after the ball and every time she quickly found me! I tried to run faster while she was chasing the ball the other direction, but evidently I wasn't fast or sneaky enough. Good exercise for the both of us though!
