Frisbee seems to prefer our rug to poop on instead of the grass. For the past week or so he had gone outside, peed, sniffed around, played a bit then come inside only to almost immediately poop on out rug! Could it be that he doesn't like the grass on his behind, or the wet grass? Many times when i know be should be ready to poop i will take him back out to the grass numerous times but he just runs back to the deck. We always praise him when he goes where he should. I guess I just have to wait longer.
Re: Poop inside 10 week old Hi there I didn't have too much trouble with poop in the house with Charlie, but have some experience that might be relevant - in 2 gardens now I've taught Charlie to poop in a specific place. There were 2 things that made a difference. The first was massively upping my treats for going in the right place (by a factor of six, and shifting from kibble to his fave sea biscuits). The second was putting his poop in the place I wanted him to go! It seemed he wanted to poop near where he had last pooped. Before you write me off as a poop carrying nutter, I did discover this by accident. I was clearing up poop and had a bag full when I happened to be in the right place. He sniffed the bag and pooped! So I repeated the tactic in the next garden, and it worked. He might be pooping on the rug because that's now his poop spot. Can you get rid of the rug for a bit? (I don't suggest you put it in the garden though!).
Re: Poop inside 10 week old Can't move the rug but I guess I can leave the poop in the spot where we want him to go. Because I have 4 kids who play in the backyard along with their friends, I have been picking it up and washing it down with the hose so it doesn't get on them and inside! Will play around with it a bit. With my previous lab I caught him pooping on the floor once on the first day he came home, grabbed him and ran him outside and he never pooped in the house again except if he got sick. Even when he got sick he pooped ON THE DOOR because he couldn't get outside! I guess every dog is different!
Re: Poop inside 10 week old I find it helpful to keep puppies right away from rugs and carpets for the first few weeks, they find them such attractive places to pee and poop. A baby gate across your kitchen door is one way of keeping puppies on washable hard surfaces. If you are very 'open plan' I recommend you think about crate training. Pippa
