Not sure what happened but within the space of 10 mins Nelsons eye were almost shut and he was shaking his head from side to side. Wasn't sure quite what to do so called the out of hours vet for advice. Sounded like an allergy to long grass or that he had been digging, again, in the garden. The vet advised a dose of piriton. Like children today you wouldn't think there was anything wrong, but I have appointment to take him to the vet tomorrow just in case.
Back to his usual mischief but gorgeous boy.

Meg stuck her head in a hedge and next morning her right eye was shut tight. And then her ears swelled up. They looked like elephant ears :)
Took her to vet and when he examined her she had loads of tiny tiny bites on her. Vet thought she'd been bitten by red ants. Piriton came to rescue then. I don't know, they will put their heads where they shouldn't.

    Re: Poor Nelson - UPDATE

Back from the vets and it was a bee sting that caused his eyes to swell. Of course Nelson likes to chase the bees that are hovering over the clover in the garden. Dirty ears with a possible infection so we have ear wash to use...oh and anal glands...full MOT. On the mega plus side he was so good for the vet who says we have a gorgeous dog who is very healthy and looking in tip top condition. So very pleased with him. I need to remember this moment when he attacks the plaster on the kitchen wall!

Oh no! Poor Nelson! I just posted an hour or so ago about Lilly getting stung by a wasp in her mouth earlier!
She seems fine, glad Nelson is too.
Lilly says she is glad she didn't need to go to the vets and sends commiserations to Nelson over his anal glands :(

Had a fabulous day with Nelson yesterday. We went to a large family BBQ on a farm. cat, farm collie dog, cows, slurry smell, lots of new people and two little girls who he played ball with and let them take the ball from his mouth. So very well behaved. Sensory overload and very sleepy today. Isn't it lovely when they behave when you are out. Thanks everyone for your messages; fabulous site for support.
