Harley was sick yesterday morning at 5am, she then wanted to go outside and had the runs. She hasn't been sick again, but her tummy hasn't settled I'm now having to carry a bottle of water around to wash most of it away. Usually she is up between 7-7.30am for breakfast. This morning she woke up at 8.45am. She usually goes and sits by the cupboard where her food is, but not this morning. She is sat on the sofa curled up. Rice and chicken later. Going to starve her til this afternoon and see if it helps. I've got to go to work in a bit as I have an important meeting, but I hate leaving her when she is poorly hubby is working locally today so he's going to pop in. I feel useless when she is like this
Re: Poorly girl Poor baby... this is the second bout of sickness she has had recently, isn't it? Hope she bounces back soon. Clare
Re: Poorly girl If she hasn't perked up by this afternoon and after being starved I'd take her to the vet. If the tummy upset is affecting her behaviour she could have a temperature which would suggest a bug rather than just something she's eaten that hasn't agreed with her. 24 hrs starving would usually sort out a tummy upset caused by eating something. Pro kolin is a good thing to try. You can buy it from the vet or online as its just a supplement. I always have some in stock just incase. Hope she feels better soon Jen
Re: Poorly girl Oh dear! Hope she feels better soon! I second what another poster said about if her behaviour is affected it would indicate she has a temperature. Also if she's walking a little hunched over she probably has a tummy ache too! Make sure she's drinking lots as if she's lethargic and does have a temp she could get dehydrated quite quickly. If she refuses food tonight when you give her the chicken and rice I would give the vet a call, even just for some advice, as she is still quite young. Get better soon Harley!
Re: Poorly girl Thanks everyone We are off to the vets at 4pm for worming tablets and they have said they will check her then. It is so worrying Clare - yes, she had sickness about 2 weeks ago, but has never had D&V together. Also, she still usually wants her food, unlike this time.
Re: Poorly girl Just got back from the vets. They think she has eaten something when out and about which hasn't agreed with her . They gave her an injection to help with the D&V and paste to help settle her tummy, and gave me some paste for the next few days. The receptionists at the vets always fuss Harley, but she didn't want them to today. She left the vet prod and poke - sensitive tummy- but just sat there really not with it as soon as we got home she went outside, had a wee and straight up on the sofa next to me and went to sleep. I feel so useless
Re: Poorly girl Oh poor little love , they are so heartbreaking when poorly, but the prokolin paste is fantastic stuff , it will soon sort her tummy out x
Re: Poorly girl You are NOT useless. You've done the practical thing by taking her to the Vet. Now you are doing the nursing by snuggling up to her on the sofa and making her feel better. That makes you the most important person in her world. That isn't useless. Hope you are both feeling better soon
Re: Poorly girl Aww poor little thing. I'm sure she'll be feeling better soon, try not to worry. Until then, snuggle away!!
Re: Poorly girl Hi Naya How is Harley today? The paste you got is good stuff so hopefully should be working its magic! I hope she's feeling better!
Re: Poorly girl Harley ate rice and chicken this morning, but still has the runs quite badly she is generally ok in herself, just a bit more sleepy and clingy than normal. I am feeling better today......my neck has been really bad this week and I think coupled with Harley being poorly, I was feeling sorry for myself . Thank you for asking
