Well, she of the cast-iron constitution has obviously bitten off more than she can chew. The question is, of what? She woke us up in the early hours of Friday morning desperate for a poo and was a bit loose through the day. Boiled rice and egg diet ensued and she seemed much better by Sat morning, but later in the day it was runny and mucousy : We were away at my parents for my dad's 89th birthday and they don't have an enclosed garden, so 2 night trips required togging up to go out with her on the lead. By yesterday there was a bit of blood streaking and we reduced her to fluids only to give her gut a rest. LOOK AWAY NOW IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH OR EATING YOUR DINNER! ;D Up until this morning she was still her usual bouncy self, but she seemed a little subdued and she produced what could best be described as looking like pureed liver SAFE TO LOOK AGAIN! So one long-acting AB shot and a tube of Pro-Kolin later, she is curled up in a pathetic little ball on her beanbag. Hope she perks up soon
Re: Poorly pup Hi, have you had her to a Vet ? Sometimes, these tummy bugs clear themselves but other times, they need some medical intervention , poor little lass , I hope she feels better soon .
Re: Poorly pup Gracious,id have needed a shot of something if I'd have seen 'that' produced ,poor puppy tummy!Did the vet say what could have caused it....sounds very violent to have just been something she ate?Hooemyoumsee improvement quickly Best Wishes Angela
Re: Poorly pup Vet seems confident it is something she ate, we just can't think what it could have been. Gave her a long-acting AB shot and the Pro-kolin and said to carry on with rice, scrambled egg etc. She has had 3 micro meals since lunchtime and nothing coming out yet which is good! She does scavenge and it never has much of a detrimental effect on her usually firm poos (apart from addition of fur/feathers etc : ) so it must have been something horrible.
Re: Poorly pup She seems to be feeling much better today - starting to complain about lack of substantial food! Have been keeping her on lead to avoid any scavenging : but she still managed a couple of brambles this morning ;D We'll both take her to the community wood tomorrow so she can get a bigger run around than in the garden, but we'll have two-pronged attack if she finds a dead animal! Not been pooing much due to low residue diet, but it is no longer bloody and heading in a solid direction so hopefully she'll get back to normal soon
