Scully gave us a bit of a scare yesterday. Monday evening she had really runny poo, the garden looked like a small cow had wondered through, but Tuesday morning it looked like it was firming up again so off I went to work (don't worry, OH works from home). A few hours later, I get a text saying she's thrown up everywhere. It sounded a bit like that scene in Jaws where they open up the shark and the stomach contents include loads of junk... nothing obviously dangerous but lots of bits of detritus, we're clearly going to have to keep our eyes glued to her constantly when she's out.

Bit later on, she's gone off her food, a huge warning sign. Then she starts vomiting blood. OH made a vet appointment but I was stuck at work fearing the worse, the internet makes vomiting blood sound like a death sentence (bad me for googling it). Vet's diagnosis; she probably ate something she shouldn't have.

She got some anti-emetics and managed to eat some plain rice in the evening with a very unamused look on her face. She also got some special canned food, probiotic paste and some painkillers (which she didn't seem to need so we didn't give her any).

Vet said the blood was just from vomiting so hard when there was nothing in her stomach, poor thing. She's a bit perkier this morning and was definitely wondering where her proper breakfast was. Mixed in some of the canned food with the rice, fingers crossed there won't be any more explosions today.

So pleased she's on the mend. I know what you mean about worrying! We used to live at the vets! My husband used to tease me: Snowie's nose is dry. Quick! Take him to the vet!

And then the vet tells you it's nothing.

Vomiting blood from eating something she shouldn't have - what a relief for you!

Hope Scully is getting better. It's so scary when that happens - and really difficult to make sure that labs don't eat what they shouldn't too.

She seems much better today, I have the day off work and she charged upstairs and jumped on the bed to give me a big morning kiss.

Mostly I think she's happy to be getting her kibble again!
