    ... is cancelled. :(

Poppy chose this time to come into heat. We HAVE to drive over to the UK next week, as we have a funeral to attend, but we clearly cant take her with us now. The kennel wont take her (at least not the good one, which is the only kennels where I'll leave her) so I am having to call in a few favours from friends and neighbours to look after her next week.

I hate leaving her when she is feeling a bit under the weather, but really there is no choice in the matter. I just hope our young friend who will be house- and dog-sitting for a few days is vigilant... I will have to say he can only walk her on the lead. And then she'll have to stay with a neighbour for a couple of days - one who has wooden floors, rather than carpets!

Also, she had a bit of a vomiting episode last night (dinner, and then grass and yukky slime) - do you think this is a coincidence, or could it have something to do with her heat?

OH says he caught her eating acorns this morning on their walk. Acorns used to make Bones really, really sick (think fizzy vomit  ), so perhaps they are the culprit.

Very likely Karen , my old Lab Tess used to graze on them until we realised the effects they had ::)

So sorry that you have this added stress at a time when you could well do without it , thinking of you x

Just back home, so lovely to be back with my Pops! Sitting here on the couch watching Downton Abbey with her... (She loves Downton ;) )

Her bleeding has changed - it is still quite copious, but more watery. I think she is in full estrus now. She is quieter than normal, and seems to need an extra lot of cuddles. The little love...

Glad your home safely and reunited with Poppy.

Downton Abbey is filmed 10 miles from where I live in the very beautiful Highclere Castle :) Helen xx

Lots of cuddles required all round no doubt - making up for lost cuddles as well as making Pops feel better ;D
