Took Harley out for a walk lunch time....no problems. Actually, she did brilliantly with blinds today - better than usual which is pretty good usually.
I went to work for 2 hours, came home, no greeting at the door ;( (she is usually has a very waggy tail and gets very excited to see me, but she sat on her vetbed curled up looking sorry for herself. When she did get up, she would walk a few steps then sit down at an awkward angle and nibble at her tail. She done this for the next 30 mins and when I smoothed her tail she mouthed my hand.
Just got back from the vets, he thinks it's probably frozen tail so has given her an inflammatory and pain injection. If it is, she should be back to normal tomorrow, if not we've got to go back for them to examine her again. It is really difficult for them to examine her throughly as she shys away since her op and is visibly scared. (We are working on this by popping into the vets at random times and mooching around, going into the consulting rooms etc.)
Hate having a poorly pup ;( she's currently snuggled into me on the sofa snoozing

Poor love , its more common than you think , sometimes called Cold Tail or Swimmers Tail , pain relief usually sees a big improvement , hope she feels lots better soon x

Oh poor lass. I hope it goes away quickly and that she's much better in the morning.

I'm sure she'll gradually become more comfortable at the vet's too, with the approach you are taking to that :)

One thing I forgot to ask the vet - is she ok to go on a walk tomorrow? She's usually with the dog walker on a Thursday!
She's feeling sorry for herself atm.....she has pinched my chair and us snuggled up on it!

    Poor girl. :(

Well, I suppose it'll be painful - although hopefully not long lasting - so rest might be wise? perhaps you can give the vet a call tomorrow?

Thanks Julie. I was thinking that too. Just text my dog walker to let her know.
I will call the vets if there isn't any improvement tomorrow :)

Ah Dexter had it Ternaya....they just look miserable :'(
I'd say it took the 3 rd day for him to be totally back to normal although there was a big improvement within a day.Dex got his because I let him swim for too long when he was young with bigger older dogs ....was Harley swimming? We just gave him shorter lead walks until he was back to full fettle.
Also my friend says they can get it if you don't dry them off properly round the base of their tail in cold weather
    Get well so Harley x

Oh no! Loads of gentle licks and nuzzles from Pongo. He loves Harley's tail (it's usually the bit he is chasing...)

    Tummy rubs from me too.

    Re: Possible frozen tail ;(

Not a good night :'( she was very restless and obviously in pain
I've taken this morning off and rearranged some meetings, but have to go into work for 2 hours later for a meeting with my director. Cancelled the dog walker who was brilliant and not going to charge me until Harley is better and back with her :)
Harley had problems going to the toilet this morning :'( she went, but it took 5 attempts and lots of stares at her back end.
I'm going to call the vets and ask if they can prescribe her some metacam without seeing her as I don't want to put her through more stress unnecessarily.

She's not been swimming for over a week Angela - it has dropped from 10/12C to 2C yesterday so could be because she got wet running around in the woods and it was cold and I didn't dry her until we got home (won't be making that mistake again!. Just ordered her a bathrobe to put on her as soon as we get back to the car on walks - hopefully this will help.
