Hi I'm a new member. I am mum to Brodie, a yellow male. He is 9 weeks old. We are doing well with him. He's accepted his crate. At the night time, he goes out and does a wee and sometimes a poo, goes straight into his crate no crying and sleeps for around 5 -6 hours, whimpers, goes outside, wee's and back in crate and sleeps for another 2 - 3 hours. All this sounds great and it is and I'm very grateful and happy that he does so well at night, i am bad without sleep!! My problem is daytime wee's. After his breakfast i take him out and can stand there for an hour..... no wee, come in the house and he wee's immediately. This pattern continues through the day with a very rare outside wee. I doing everything the books tell me, outside after food, water a nap or playtime, just feel I'm failing on the daytime wee's. Any suggestions would be most welcome, thank you.

    Awwwww :)

Don’t stand there any more than three or four minutes. When you come back in carry him around a while, then back out until he ‘performs’, then praise and treat. You’ll also soon get to know what he does just before a wee, then you can whip him out. He’ll soon get the message.

You also need to clean up with enzyme cleaner like Simple Solution or the wee smell indoors will make him want to use the same spot.

And welcome to you from Mags, Tatze and Keir from Manchester UK

Tatze is my pet dog, a black Lab and she's four years old. Tatze means 'paw' in German.

Keir is my fifth Guide Dog puppy, a yellow Golden Retriever/Flatcoat cross and he's six months old.

    :hi:
