I read a number of posts here regarding potty training, learned a bit but will like to ask a question. I have a seven month old male labrador retriever. Usually, if I take him outside he will pee and poop right away. To me, this means that he know that when I take him outside I want to him to pee and poop. I always praise him when he does. This all seems good. The problem is that he also pees and poops in the house frequently. Maybe 3-4 times a day he pees and 0-2 times a day he will also poop. How do I teach him not to do this in the house? Thank you, Steven
At 7 months he should be pretty reliable and should rarely have an accident. He should not do that daily, which suggests he never grasped it in the first place. How long is he left ? ? Is he going in the same place? How are you cleaning it ? I would go back to the start, like a little pup, and take him out frequently and treat, and say something when you do. Eventually he will go on command. Good luck.
There are a few places which he goes at. Some to poop at and others to pee at. I wash the floor where he goes, which I am getting tired of doing! What should I clean up with? If you mean how long is he left for alone, then this is almost never. Someone is usually home with the dog all the time.
