Hello and welcome , I am sorry to read about your Lab , what a worry for you I`m sure . I think the best plan of action is to ask your Vet to recommend a canine cancer specialist and refer you . Has your Vet tested the area for cancer cells ? When I look my late boy to the Vet with a small lump , the very first thing she did was a Fine Needle Aspiration , where a needle draws out cells for testing , results came back within 48 hours . If you have not yet had this procedure , it might well be worth asking for it so that you can then make a plan .

Sorry to hear this @Michael Kelly
As Kate says, you should be asking for a referral to a veterinary dermatologist at the very least for further assessment and treatment.
Your vet should know the local specialists, or at the very least, know how to find out.I hope you can get an urgent assessment to get the facts.
Let us know how things go..
