Hi. I already have 3 dogs. An 11 year old faithful shihtzu x, a 7 year old adorable male Labrador and a 5 year old Sweet Cavapoo. We have just taken on a 14 week old cockerdor puppy from my in laws who can’t cope with her. I have absolutely fallen in love with her but her excessive biting is trying but more upsetting is the barging my other dogs. She’s calm one minute and then trying to overpower them with her boisterous barging the next. I know I’m expecting too much and she a baby but I’m concerned that she will just my old boy. Just want to know this will get easier? I’ve read all your advice on not over exciting her, time out, so I’m going to work on this. Any other tips would be gratefully received. Many thanks. EmmaJ. Xx
Hi Emma, welcome to the forum Take a look at this article on our main site about introducing puppies to older dogs. I'm sure it will get easier as the puppy grows up, but in the meantime you need to be able to separate her from the older dogs - a puppy play pen or stairgates across doorways are popular options. Good luck and let us know how you get on!
