Hi I have a 12 week old puppy who wears his collar all day and I take it off at night. In the morning he is very excitable and it's hard to get the collar on quickly to take him out. This morning he started to wee on the carpet as it took too long. He did finish his wee outside. Does anyone leave there collar on overnight. He does sleep in his crate.

Could you use a slip lead to take him out and fit his collar after he has wee'd? Alternatively, fasten his collar with it not on him, then just slip it over his head.
I definitely wouldn't leave a collar on overnight

Slip lead sounds a good idea. Thank you.

Ask the pup to sit, reward, put collar on and reward. I assume this is his morning walk and that he's already been let out in the garden for a wee?

Thanks for advice. It's his first wee after waking up, we only let him out in the garden on his lead at the moment. But I will definitely try the reward for putting on his collar. I have just got a slip lead so I can now take him out quickly and then put his collar on.
