    Hello everyone
At what age would you suggest swapping from 'puppy food' to 'adult food'?

Pongo is eight months now, very well grown (!) although not full adult size yet I'd think.

I'm using CSJ 'Little Champ' and would probably transfer to 'Champ'.

    Any views?

I feed JWB and it has puppy to junior at 6months, then junior to adult at 18months.

Not sure if it would be different for little champ but i'd guess based on the table here

it would be either 12-18months as the feeding guide seems to stop at that time but depends on where your dog fits in the weight range.

I changed Bess over in the couple of weeks before she was spayed at about fourteen months.

I asked my vet - the bag of junior, rather than puppy, food said 15 months, but I heard to do it earlier. My vet said he would swap a dog over "when it had finished growing" And that's later for larger breeds than smaller breeds. Charlie's growth plates closed just after he was 1 year old. Since we were having problems with food, and Charlie's growth plates had closed, we swapped him. If I had asked my vet earlier, I would have swapped a bit sooner, but not by much.

I'm not sure there is anything terribly scientific about this - puppy food is designed for rapidly growing pups, I guess, so the "when they have done growing" made sense to me I suppose.

Thank you everyone, that is really helpful!

Julie, how did you know that Charlie's growth plates had closed?
