    Hi everyone
Boston is my 5 month old chocolate lab, yesterday he was a bit constipated and passed some foreign objects (small pebble and some dishcloth material) :-[ we'd had a family party on the weekend and I think he found some bbq remnants from the caterers...
Today he had normal stools so I was relieved but then was a little sick after breakfast and on our morning walk he had diarrhoea.
Boston is my first dog so I'm a little unsure what to do! The vet has told me before if he is sick to give it 24 hours before food but he is going absolutely mad this lunchtime obviously starving! He slept most of the morning and there were no more runny toilets so I am wondering whether to give him a little bit of food and see how it goes?
    Thanks for any advice

    Hello and welcome .
As you have already seen evidence of items he has eaten , I think it may be best to let your Vet check Boston over . Labradors in general are known to eat anything and everything, pups being the worst culprits so yes, err to caution for peace of mind , hoping he will feel better real soon .

Hi there and thanks, sorry I should have mentioned I am booked into the vets so we'll see what he says. We have been for a walk and he's had lots of water today and a little food and seems fine now but best to be safe! Thanks again! Look forward to reading some posts and getting some tips on here!

I hope Boston is better now and got rid of all those interesting things he thought might taste good.

My two ate all sorts. ::)

Let us know how you get on with the vet fingers crossed. :)

Hello from Rosie and 6-month-old Pongo.

Pongo wants to ask Boston what barbecue tastes like and how to go about stealing some; we're having a party here in a couple of weeks and he is looking for tips.

Hi Rosie and Pongo, well I think it must have been pretty good, we had a lamb spit roast for my dad's 60th birthday.
I think when they carried the used spit down the side of the house (gravel path) they dripped good stuff all over the place because Boston has been very interested in the path ever since and the pebble I found was from there :-\
Luckily it rained hard yesterday so I'm hoping the last of it has gone! We've blocked the path off for a bit too. I bet Boston couldn't believe his luck when he went outside the day after the BBQ!

Pongo has now gone outside to assess whether he can booby-trap the path from hog-roast to marquee, so that someone will trip up and spill something good.

A few weeks ago, OH chopped up a few lamb bones for him, using axe and chopping block outside. Since then it has rained half a dozen times, we have scrubbed the block and the path, and Pongo STILL wanders round there to hoover up non-existant scraps...

Hi and welcome to the forum!! Hope your pup is just fine. Labradors have diverse tastes and a very flexible definition of what constitutes food...

BBQ flavored pebbles! Wow. Yup, that would be an invitation to a young labrador to hoover up the path alright! Hope the rain does the trick.

    Hi

I hope Boston is better soon. Our lab Toby who is 7 recently had surgery to remove 2 golf balls and 1 tennis ball from his stomach. Like people have said they eat anything and everything.

Hi all, well Boston did recover and the vet was happy that he was in tip top condition, but then yesterday he went downhill again so he went straight back into the vets, he's had a temperature and got a sore tummy, so they monitored him and then he was very sick :'( so they have done x-rays but can't see anything. There was a raw potato in the sick... I think he got it from my mother in law's compost heap, so that may be the culprit. Its one thing after another at the moment! I'm waiting for them to ring me later once he's had some food, we are supposed to go on holiday tomorrow but I don't want to leave him now!

Oh dear, what a stress!! You poor thing.... Sounds like he is getting very good care from the vet though.

Where are you supposed to be going on holiday?

    Get well soon (again) Boston!

I was going to Italy for a few days, we booked it as a surprise for my dad's 60th.
Just spoken to the vets and they aren't happy yet, Boston still has a temperature and is not bouncing back as they would like, so maybe an ultrasound is on the cards.
My husband is away (in the Royal Navy) which makes it all the harder! Sorry for the moans today, just want to give Boston a cuddle :-\
