This is my first post in 8 years- can’t believe I can do this on my PHONE now! We haven’t had a lab in the house because we lost our beloved Lily to lymphoma.

My 19yo college daughter brought home a 6 week old yellow baby that looks exactly like my previous lab! She’s a doll baby!
Only issue is she’s been having the runs for a couple days. Acting wild and crazy like a normal 8 week old so I know she isn’t sick. White rice with pumpkin firmed things back up but as soon as I started adding kibble back in it happened again. Maybe the Blue Buffalo is too rich for her? Thoughts?

The food could be too rich for her but also could be eating too much of it? Try cutting down the amount of it she is eating and see if that helps.

Hi there, and welcome back :)

There are lots of different reasons why new puppies often get diarrhea. Infections, parasites, a change of diet, the stress of moving home, etc. It's difficult to know what the cause is, and some foods simply relieve the symptoms by soaking up some the liquid, rather than getting rid of the source. It's a good idea to keep the puppy on the food it was being given by the breeder, because changing can upset tummies. Definitely give smaller more frequent meals to any puppy with diarrhea as digesting a whole load at once can trigger the runs. But in general, a good quality puppy food shouldn't cause problems. As it's gone on for a couple of days have a check with the vet - they may give you a little bottle to collect a poop sample to send off for testing, to exclude some of the nasties. Puppies can seem quite well in themselves even when they have a gut infection so while it's great that she is still lively and happy, it doesn't rule out problems. Hope everything settles down soon!

Maggie had loose poop. Spreading out the meals to 4 feedings was only thing that worked for us.
