    Hello
First time puppy owners. Our four month old Labrador does really well at night sleeping from 9pm to 6am usually with a toilet break when we go to bed around 10pm. When she does wake in the morning she barks and wakes us up - is there a way to get her to wait for us to come down calmly (no barking)?Does this come with age? Or do we need to specifically train this? And if so how?

She is crated over night (downstairs in our family room) but her day time naps are out of the crate. She seems tired when she gets up at 6 and is often asleep on the moment before 6.30am

It is quite a long way from our room to the crate so if she is barking we do wait for quiet before going into the room she is in but we can’t help getting out of bed whilst she is barking.

Hi, if 6am is her getting up time you'll need to set an alarm earlier and get her up before she starts barking. Then gradually move the alarm time forward until you get to a getting up time you're happy with. If 6am is a toilet break then back to bed, do the same so she isn't waking you by barking, and make the toilet trip really boring...no play, talking etc, then straight back to bed until getting up time. We followed this with Monty and it worked. She's doing really well for 4 months!
