Is there any way of knowing if a bitch has been spayed ? The shelter didnt have this information on Millie, there is no visible scar but then, if she is four/five years old , the scar could have vanished . We were told to keep an eye on her and that if she comes into season , wait for three months and have her spayed by their Vet which we will do, but just wondering if there is any way a Vet could tell ? Thanks
Re: Question re bitches Thanks Heidrun , will have a chat with him when she goes for her second vacs in two weeks
Re: Question re bitches Hi Kate it would be very difficult to find a uterus on ultrasound scan if she is not pregnant, has a pyometra or some other reason for fluid-filled uterine enlargement. Also tricky to say the least to find ovaries which are quiescent. Hormone assays are possible but expensive and repeated assays may be required to distinguish the mid-cycle anoestrous bitch from the neutered bitch. I'd wait and see if I was you!
Re: Question re bitches Thanks a lot for that info , very helpful indeed , I guess its watch carefully for the next few months then I tend to think she has had a litter of pups are her teats are more pronounced than a bitch who hasnt had any .
Re: Question re bitches Can only advise re Lady, but after she was spayed she had no "bits and pieces" at the after end. ;D
Re: Question re bitches All my girls have had a scar if you know where to look, but then they have grey skin so it shows up, was much harder to spot on the pink skin of Cara (Wolfie). I'm with Lochan, wait and see. Kerryn
