We've just arrived in Kingswear for a short holiday. Kingswear is in Devon on the opposite side of the River Dart to Dartmouth. Today is the last day of the regatta. There was a very impressive display by an RAF Typhoon FGR4. This plane is easily the loudest that I have ever heard. It is seriously LOUD! So, what does a keen Labrador owner do? Use it as a training opportunity of course Each time the plane flew over us I rapidly fed a stream of treats to Harv. Only once did he look away - with a "wtf was that?" expression - which was really good given how loud this thing was. Can't imagine ignoring this particular plane will be a frequently used skill somehow http://www.dartmouthregatta.co.uk/raf-typhoon-fgr4.html
Nice work I've been to Kingswear. There is a lovely National Trust property there - Coleton Fishacre.
Seaside regattas are brilliant for socialisation and ongoing socialisation - between the fairy queens, bands, fireworks, red arrows, giant pasty eating competitions and traders in fancy dress, you can tick the entire socialisation list off for a puppy in a couple of days! Well done Harv!
One imagines that it's in their genes being gundogs, not reacting to loud noises? When Snowie first heard fireworks, he went outside onto the balcony to see what was going on he was so curious.
Went to the victory show and my labs were fed carrots by men in ww2 uniforms with guns as t34s rumbled past. they were a bit insure at first but they got bored in the end it was a great way for them to get bomb proofed
I'm developing a serious fan-girl crush on your Snowy. Between the funny things he does with poo, being taken for a Boerboel cross and apparently being generally unflappable, he just sounds like my kind of guy. Not that I envy you the poo thing, mind you, I just think that shows he has rather refined sense of doggie humour.
Aw thank you -- your comment has warmed my heart immensely! He is a lovely solid boy who wags his tail in delight when little girls at his eye level want to wrap their arms around his big head and hug him (this happened three times this weekend on our walks!) and never reacts to little yappy dogs. We do love him so, poo and all! On the weekend he stole food out of a baby's hand (sitting in her pram) -- not perfect, but extremely loveable.
A quick update ... Planes that are so loud the ground beneath them seems to vibrate - no problem. A 3-inch square air vent blowing air from a restaurant - potentially dangerous and needs to be skirted around
Jesse doesn't mind Thunder or fireworks, and loves to play in the rain. Digging holes and playing in the mud is not my favorite lol but he enjoys it . He loves people and even made friends with one of our cats. I love him, even when he turn into croco pup at the flip of coin.
