Hi, Chloe is seventeen weeks, yellow lab, no cage, house trained fully, good on lead, so should not grumble, still has the very sharp fangs, we still have holes in our skin here and there, they are so sharp, when do they lose these teeth please?

Can anyone please point me towards the barking forum, I cannot find it, Chloe barks constantly through every evening meal, sorted out breakfast by just going out of the room, she has stopped, bought a Kong that keeps her busy for about five minutes, then the barking starts again. I would like some advice but realise this is a teething post, thank you, she is our third yellow Labrador, Candy until fifteen, Rosie until thirteen, neither of them barked hardly at all any time. In fact when Chloe wants something she barks!!! Best wishes Val

Hi there, I split your post from the teething thread and created a whole new thread about barking, just for you!

The most important thing is not to reward Chloe's barking, by taking notice of her when she barks. Wait until there is a break in the barking, however brief, and respond to her then. She needs to learn that barking gets her nowhere, but that quiet, calm behaviour will be rewarded.

As for the teeth - she will be starting to lose those needle-sharp puppy teeth any day now! :)

Oh that is so kind of you thank you, I could not find how to start a new thread, and even wondered if there is one on barking, so that is really helpful, much obliged. Best wishes Val

Heidrun responded to your question on barking as well, but obviously just as I was in the process of splitting the thread, so her comment is still under the "teething" thread. But she quite rightly suggests you don't even give Chloe eye contact while she is barking!

    Re: barking

Thank you so much, it really helps getting other folks input, will try and ignore, need to probably buy ear plugs as she barks in top C, which to me is unusual for a lab. Hoping she will grow out of it. After reading some of the posts on here, I think she is probably doing very well, in most things, but gosh she is noisy. Had a cataract op three weeks ago, that has been very hard keeping away from her jumping on settee etc., so looking forward to some longer walks. She is so much better after a walk, even though we do not go far.

    Thanks again, Val

Don't have a lot of advice for you as I had the same problem with my previous dog, which I was never able to cure. I'm sure there will be others who will have some suggestions...hopefully!!
