Hello all. I have two dogs, on lab/shepherd mix (Odin) and one smedium mystery dog (Rosie). They have both lived together since they were puppies the past year and a half with Rosie being older and there around 6 months earlier. They have a good dynamic at home, although Rosie tends to be the dominant one there, but at their daily dog park visit they were great. Over the past few months however, Odin has begun to be strangely aggressive towards Rosie. No other dogs, just Rosie, which causes issues and fights that need to be broken up. It has gotten to the point now where Rosie will run up to me to be protected whenever he starts to focus on her. I'm not sure how to fix or correct Odins behavior and hes fine with every other dog. Even after I break them up he'll be yowling on the leash or doing high pitched cry/barks. Any advice would be very appreciated.
Hi @tfors Welcome to the forum. I think we need more information. What is/are the trigger/s for the aggression? Is Odin resource guarding something? What is he guarding at the dog park? Is Odin resource guarding you? Is the younger one displaying odd body language before the aggression? You might find it useful to film their interaction. It's often easier to spot what is going on when you can replay the film. In the meantime prevent the bullying by Odin. Use the lead to prevent him from displaying aggression, that is, use the lead to create distance between the two dogs before the aggression begins.
