Hi I have just joined up hopefully someone can help or had a similar problem. We have an 8 year old chocolate lab and for the last 2 years she has developed what looks like a skinned / sore area between one of her toes and the main pad we have tried steroid creams , anti-biotic's etc. She had a small growth removed on the same foot about 3 years ago and it was tested for cancer , then she had a full scan etc and nothing shown up. It looks like friction rubbing it does go away but returns. Its only on one foot , now the vet has turned round and said it could be affected by the sun!! Has anyone come across this or maybe someone is aware of another vet local to me who is a specialist ( near Newcastle Upon Tyne ) Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum . I`m sorry that she has this problem, one of the probs being that they nibble at their paws which in turn cause the irritation to become worse . I`ve never heard of the sun causing this , so if I were you , I would ask for a second opinion ?

I would get a second opinion or see a dermatologist. If it's the sun why hasn't any where else been affected?

Could a grass seed be lodged there? She might be nibbling at something that’s irritating/hurting her. Although for two years? Best of luck sorting it out.

My recent foster tripawd had this, due to a shift in her balance. Could there be a gait issue here?
