Hiya Over the last month or so Maisie has become more and more reluctant to eat her food. She takes some coaxing but eventually will eat it slowly. Even when Harry the cat is pinching bits! Tonight she is refusing to eat at all (although ate a carrot earlier that I gave her). I put some coconut oil on the top which she really likes and she picked all that out and has left everything else. I wondered whether she just doesn't like this food (I changed her about 1.5 months ago) so I put some of her old food in another bowl next to her and she sniffed that but wouldn't eat it either. It's really odd. Any ideas?
If its a kibble, could you try putting some hot water on it to release the smell a little more or even some weak gravy ? Is Maisie alright in all other aspects , playing, drinking , poo etc ?
Ah that's a good idea with hot water. Yea it's kibble. I wondered whether she didn't like the kibble being bigger than her old stuff but she wouldn't eat that either. Yea she seems fine in herself. She sleeps a lot, and she's not that playful anyway, at daycare she always takes herself off to sleep on her own. But her poos etc are normal.
When Gypsy left us she went on to adult food and she became reluctant to eat - after having to be fed on a tray she gobbled it so fast! It turned out she had gingivitis and her trainer started cleaning her teeth, while she was getting her teeth sorted, she 'mushified' the food - that worked. All is fine now.
