My little pup Latte is hospital bound overnight for a check-up. Loads of tests today cannot explain just why he is salivating like a running tap. He is in the best of care and we wait to see if meds. can cure his ills. Has anyone out there had a puppy with this problem, and if so, how was it cured? He is a little bugger when fit and healthy, but boy do I miss him!!
Re: Salivating like a running tap? I'm sorry about your puppy. Hopefully the vet will be able to sort it out quickly. I've only experienced over salivating when a dog is going to be car sick or sometimes when my dog has found an interesting smell he licks it then over salivates. I'm guessing it's something disgusting. : Let us know how Latte gets on. Will keep my fingers crossed he is back home quickly. Sorry I can't be of any help.
Re: Salivating like a running tap? Sorry haven't had that problem. Perhaps he is feeling very sick, or has a blocked saliva gland or had a run in with a toad? I do hope he gets well quickly, such a worry for you.
Re: Salivating like a running tap? I've only seen salivation when stressed or when Penny's staring at the food on my plate so can't help with this one, but I hope you get an answer soon!
Re: Salivating like a running tap? Poor Latte, no experience with this, my dogs only salivate when food is on offer. Really hope he will be OK and I bed you miss him Let us know how he is xx
Re: Salivating like a running tap? Poor boy... I guess they've checked every inch of his mouth for something wedged in there or a cracked tooth?
Re: Salivating like a running tap? I hope they manage to find out what is causing his salvating. I'm sure he is in good hands. Let us know how he gets on x
Re: Salivating like a running tap? Is there any news on Latte Ron?i hope she's been ok ,you must have missed her x
Re: Salivating like a running tap? Hi, again, many thanks for all your good wishes. The hospital rang me today and reported Latte was much improved and ready to go home. He has had the full Monty I think, X-rays, scans, ultra sounds. There is nothing wrong internally, and apart from slightly swollen gums, nothing to be concerned about. He is on some meds. but the sickness and need to vomit has passed. I have been following the food guide by Royal Canin, but the vet has asked me to feed Latte 4-6 times a day ,and reduce the size of each meal accordingly, and moisten the food first. There is no definitive explanation for the excess salivating, but it has reduced significantly, so perhaps a combination of all the above, in particular the teething/gums issue. He goes for a follow-up on Monday. The bill was high at £340,but I have a free month with Petplan which expires tomorrow, which answers a previous posting by me about Pet insurance. I have now decided to take a medium policy out, but as a back-up I have also set up a bank account for Latte which will transfer funds each month. A final thought to Priory Hospital at Purewell, who were just world class !! Thanks again for all the love out there. ;D
Re: Salivating like a running tap? Great news that Latte is a bit better today, so pleased for you. Get better soon Latte. Lots of love from us xxx
Re: Salivating like a running tap? So pleased to hear this too. Actually, £340 doesn't sound so bad if he has had all that done. Just glad he is on the mend.
Re: Salivating like a running tap? Glad Latte is a bit better. It sounds similar to Molly. Your bill was over £100 less than mine and Molly only had a scan and injection- no overnight stay. I hope Latte continues to improve.
