Homer has hurt his paw. It looks like he's scraped the skin off his law, but on closer look it looks like he had a blister where the top layer of skin has come away leaving sensitive thin skin underneath. A bit hard to explain without a picture but I'm hopeless at posting pictures.

I didn't notice anything on his walk this morning but getting ready to go out again thus afternoon I noticed he was limping a bit so I had a closer look. He's now walking on his toes and favouring it.

A few weeks ago I noticed it was a bit pink but he's been walking fine so didn't worry about it although thinking back he has been licking his foot quite a bit recently.

Scott scraped the skin off his heel pad a few weeks a go. He caught it on a stone jumping the pond. ::)I just bathed it with salt and water and it started to improve within a couple of days.

If he is bothering with it a lot or it looks weepy it may have an infection but otherwise bathing with salt and water will keep it clean and help dry it up.

This sounds similar to what Penny had just after Christmas. We thought it was a kick granuloma (where they lick enough to cause a sore) but because it did actually begin heal and she stopped licking it the vet thought it more likely to be a scrape.

It was on the underside of her foot, right next to her pad and because of where it is it took a long time to heal - I noticed it Boxing Day and it's only now fully healed. Keep the wound dry and clean, and if it's not healing or looking weepy go to the vet as Penny's got infected and she had to have a week of antibiotics.

Dex scraped the pad that holds his dew claw when he was younger....he didn't try and lick it and I just bathed it with salt water like Jen and kept it dry...it healed up easily x

Yes Bob scraped a bit of his paw a few weeks ago and left a little red raw mark.. he limped a bit. Vet said we could still walk him gently if he seemed OK (we chose a grassy surface rather than pavement) and to keep it clean with warm salt water.
