It has become a routine in our house...if DH and I watch a movie or episode of something on TV and it is louder than normal talking and gentle music Harley will take herself off to the bedroom and sleep on the bed. In the beginning we noticed that she was simply unsettled and we weren't sure why but now she simply goes to the bedroom and waits for us. She will stay if it is, as I said, a "quiet" movie/programme. Much as it would be nice to have Harls with us in the lounge we don't watch loud things often enough that it is interupting our time with Harley, and she has found a suitable solution for her. The cats couldn't be bothered, they stay with us. We are not a loud household. No small children and DH and I don't often raise our voices, only if we are "talking across rooms" while we are doing things. I don't have the history to know if this is normal. I don't think it is a problem but I was wondering if other dogs are the same?
Some dogs are more sensitive than others to noise, but it looks as if Harls has found her own solution. Noise sensitivity is one of the things a trainer looks for when introducing a clicker to a dog for the first time. Some dogs are reactive to the sound so we don't use a clicker
Yes - Lucky does this if he want to sleep. It's not that he's scared - I think he just wants some peace and quiet to relax!
Merlin wouldn't notice or care if you had the tv AND radio going full blast... Poppy however is very sensitive to noise and atmosphere. If one of us raises our voice just a tiny bit, she's off to her bed...
Sky is very sensitive to noises, moods etc. She really tunes in to people’s emotions which I think is why she is such a good P.A.T dog. She is happiest when all is calm and good.
