I have a 1 1/2 old yellow lab who sheds like nothing I have ever seen. We live in Queens NY in a decent size house with a back ally that is 200ft long. We take Mac out and run him every day 2 to 3 times. Unfortunately he is in the house while we are at work. We have to vacuum 2x per day. I leave a shop vac in my living room. I have had dogs that shed but this is beyond the point of insane. The point I am getting at is when we bring Mac to PA(my parents house) he is in his glory. We noticed the shedding has reduced tremendously. He sleeps downstairs when we are in Queens but has to sleep in our room when we are in PA. Again we would never do this in Queens because the hair in our bedroom would cause me to lose my mind but in PA it very minimal. He acts the same in both places but I feel that his stress and anxiety must be lower in the country causing him not to shed as much. Does this sound crazy?

Not crazy at all. Stress will cause an animal to shed almost immediately. Could very well be his anxiety over living in the city. We use Omega Gold plus salmon oil soft chews to help with shedding a healthy coat. Have found that it really helps. It can be found on chewy.com.

It could be anxiety, but also many dogs have periods where they blow their coats and shed a lot in one go - and then will go many months without doing this. It could just be a coincidence that this has corresponded with where you are living.

When he is shedding, get a Furminator brush and brush him daily outside to strip out all the loose hair so it's not shed in the house.
