Now my lovely Chocolate pudding is being sick. :'( This is not at all normal for him, he is rarely sick.

I've been fading out the painkillers this week, to a third of what he was on, because the surgeon said he can't stay on the high level he was on for 2 months while we wait for the operation, although carried on with the anti-inflammatories (I want to speak with my own vet first before stopping those).

Sick twice last evening, and once during the night. I've swapped to veggie kongs, instead of dog food kongs, because I just don't have enough food while he is on restricted exercise to put "real" food in kongs. He was climbing the walls yesterday - even with 5 x 15-20 minute lead walks. And I may have given him too many veggie kongs. (Sorry if Angela is eating for this next bit). The sick was undigested veggies mainly.

He is quiet and a bit sleepy this morning, but wolfed down a very small breakfast of kibble no problem. He is drinking his normal amount, which is lots. Not had a poo yet, but that's normally later anyway. His tummy feels normal to touch.

I'll give it until midday, and if he isn't brighter, and had a poo, down to the vets.

Poor little man :( Sending him pats!!!

Were the veggies cooked or raw? Cooked is easier to digest.

The veggies in the kongs were cooked - carefully mashed, and frozen. A mix of carrot, parsnip and potato. He had 2 raw carrots too though (which I've never given him before, so could be those). Feel bad. Was so busy with work, and he was on a mission to chew down the house - he doesn't settle until after about his 4th lead walk when he starts to feel as though he has at least had a bit of exercise - and so gave him veggies instead of spending time with him.... :( :( :(

and so doesn't feel guilty about that because sometimes in a busy day in a busy life that's what you just have to do x
Get well soon Charlie,it's a great idea Julie ,you probably just need a bit of adjustment on type and quantity x

Don't feel bad, Julie, a cooked, mashed veggie Kong was a top idea. Maybe just a coincidence that he was sick? You are going all out for this dog - don't feel guilty or we will have to get cross with you ;) I very frequently give Obi a Kong or similar to keep him quiet rather than exert myself - we call them "Shut Up Treats". ;D

We say 'give him something to keep him busy!' This morning it was an iPad box ( brilliant hard packaging ;D) with some kibble inside!x

My sister had the same policy with children and lollipops - they were known as 'Shut Up Sticks'... ;)

My spaniel loves raw carrot and feels very aggrieved if there are carroty things going on in the kitchen and he doesn't get one. Maybe the carrots did upset Charlie's stomach, maybe they didn't - either way, Charlie is still getting a first class care package! Could just as easily be the changes in medication levels... hope he gets on ok today and you are spared a further vet trip.

He is perking up now, but no poo (perhaps there is nothing in his tummy though). I'll take him for round the block in a bit, then see. Have to go back to the vet anyway, as he might have an ear infection again.

I might as well just buy a season ticket to the vet at this rate. At least he still likes going to the vet. I hope that lasts...

Oh goodness Julie, your poor Charlie really is in the wars isn't he?

Yes, a season ticket for the vets sounds like a good idea! Hang in there. It's going to be a tough winter for you… but it'll be worth it come springtime.

Oh dear - poor Charlie. I won't suggest sprouts then although they are pretty effective in the poo and the pooh department!

Well, we've been out for a race around the block (our lead walking should be improving, surely, it seems to be a challenge with all this pent up energy though) - and he had a poo. Which had a strange lump of debris in it but then was normal...hmmmm.... methinks puppy managed to eat something he shouldn't have.

Poor Charlie, hope that's whatever was bothering him out now...

Now and then I remember that labrador owners' focus on the content of their dog's poo maybe seems unusual to others...Brodicks CD eating episode prompted a few days of close scrutinty and a little poking around, in fact any he eats anything he shouldn't (which is quite often) I become very focused on poo examinations for a few days and it all seems perfectly normal now....much to the horror of my friends...

I know, I was going to add "sorry about talking poo again" to my last reply. Then thought "nah, they understand". ;D ;D ;D

If you want to see true horror on your friends faces, pass your phone round when you are at dinner in a lovely restaurant to show them the a photo of your new car ;D of course someone will ask if they can scroll through your shots and at this point they come to the poo photos you've taken to show the vet...or your husband and forgotten to delete!
Hmmmm, haven't been asked out for dinner recently

My rubber sink plug is missing. Just went to wash some wine glasses, and there it was - gone. Now don't want to put 2 and 2 together and make 5 or anything... ::) ::) ::)
