    Hello!

I'm working through the gun dog training guide for grade 1 with our 4 month old puppy Coco. I am struggling a bit with the sit training, and was hoping for some tips or advice.

One issue is that Coco will sit on command, but always comes up to me first (if that is an issue?)
The second is the release. Once sitting she stays there looking at me, so i'm not sure how do the "release" part without repeating myself or just walking off.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

    Hi @Ohno

    welcome to the site

Try giving the cue to sit when you are close to the dog so that she doesn't rehearsing walking up to you.. Later on you can work on stepping away from the dog and distance control.

Release? Think of the cue you want to give always. Finish, party or whatever.

After your dog has relaxed in the sit. Give your release cue, then give her a treat so she gets out of the sit. At 4 months old, don't make her sit for very long.
