I've been in alone this morning working in the garden with the SBD. Didn't take much notice for a good while when she wasn't in sight when Lady comes up all waggy tail and everything so thought OH had come home but no sign. Then heard voice calling hello. At the back garden gate was a neighbour who said was that Lady? She'd found her exploring at the other end of the street and put her back but then wasn't sure! Idiot me hadn't checked the back gate after the window cleaner had left. Doh! :-[ Anyway no harm done but I'm now having nightmares that she could have been injured or even worse stolen! Our neighbour owns Bailey, an elderly yellow Lab who is the SBD's bestest friend and she always goes soppy with him. Apparently our neighbour found Lady sniffing round her front door. ;D
Re: Small Black Dog goes walkabout! Phew! Glad she was found by a nice doggy person. But oh the guilt of not knowing she'd escaped until she was returned
Re: Small Black Dog goes walkabout! Oops!!! It makes your heart skip a beat, that 'what if???' moment, doesn't it?
Re: Small Black Dog goes walkabout! I'm sure Lady was just doing her social duty as a Lady must Thank goodness for lovely neighbours though!
Re: Small Black Dog goes walkabout! Oh gosh that would have given me a fright,I had Chris fixing the lock on our side gate last night just before guests arrived for dinner....I was scared in case just the same happened if someone left it open, glad she came home safe ....x
Re: Small Black Dog goes walkabout! It's a terrible feeling isn't it. I was looking after my daughter's chocolate lab a couple of summers ago when she jumped the garden gate ( I had no idea she had that much jump in her! ) and headed up into the village to beg outside the door of the co-op. Two small boys took her down into the woods with them (there must have been food involved) and we found her there an hour or so later, helping them build a camp. Much relief all round. So glad SBD is ok - the nightmares do pass in time!
Re: Small Black Dog goes walkabout! Oh uh,are you getting the 'frosty' treatment now...think you will be making your own cuppa when the garden chores are finished David ;D
Re: Small Black Dog goes walkabout! What lovely neighbours you have, great that Lady knows them, sounds like the whole village knows lady!
Re: Small Black Dog goes walkabout! She didn't wander all that far; maybe 200 yds. Now she's done one escape of course she knows the big outside is there if the gate is open. :
Re: Small Black Dog goes walkabout! Glad she's safe and sound I've done the same kind of thing.....not shut the gate properly, gone round to the neighbour's, then had Obi appear a few minutes later, looking for me. Gives you a scare!
Re: Small Black Dog goes walkabout! ;D I lost control of the SBD this morning actually. I'd just paid the window cleaner and he was walking down the drive to his van when the SBD spotted him and rushed out of the door barking and hackles up towards him. She blew it completely when she found she couldn't wag her tail, lick his hand and look fierce at the same time. ;D
Re: Small Black Dog goes walkabout! Yes, SBD, 5:30am Had a weird dream about a Pony Club and it woke me up.
