Well the SBD and I were on our own last night as the OH had gone for a girl's night out with her keep fit group at a local Thai restaurant. I was having pasta and I kindly (I thought) shared it with the SBD. I decided to have it in front of the TV and watch something I'd recorded. All going well. SBD wolfed down pasta and kibbles followed by a dental stick for pudding then the nightmare began. : Trots up and sticks her nose in my salad! Then has a casual look at my plate on a tray on my knee and large prehensile tongue shoots out and I'm just quick enough to avert disaster. Then a whole series of toys are presented for play! Then she trots off and I hear a crunching noise behind the back of the sofa where she's helped herself to a box of dates! In the interests of sanity I say in a perfectly calm and controlled scream "ON YOUR BED NOW!. Crestfallen she trots off. Peace at last! Finish pasta and do the washing up and make a cup of coffee only to spot SBD sitting neatly on her bed staring at me from the dark back room ears up and forward. So to add insult to injury I now feel like a Grade-A heel! So go back and sit on the sofa and invite her back where 27kg of Labrador lands in my lap with crash and she proceeds to lick my hand and generally scrunch in so hard it hurts! SBD proceeds to settle down upside down with her head on my lap and now occupying 80% of the sofa leaving me with just enough room at one end. Hmmmmm! Later OH arrives back and asks how was my evening. Perfect I say! ;D

And make you look and feel like an even bigger heel.As I often say.....these dogs! As an aside I want to join a keep fit club where you have trips to a Thai restaurant ;D

Isn't it just one of those things, I was never going to give Otis scraps from my plate, then it just crept up on me, now he gets the odd titbit, he also waits expectantly for me to put my plate down for him to lick ( before it goes in the dishwasher) favourite things are apple cores and yogourt pots to lick out. Dear oh dear, how standards slip. On a good note, the routine vet visit yesterday, showed he had lovely teeth, a hollywood smile the vet said, and at 27.7 kg, his weight was spot on, but he is not to gain weight. It was recommended by vet , that I just use carrots for treats, will have to watch those scraps too. xx
