I wish I was doing a boast post about an amazing retrieve or something - much smaller, unfortunately.

At last clicker trained Charlie to sit still while I put his ear drops in. Yay. :)

I'm happy with small things these days. It took cheese treats for the final bit. :) we did the rest for kibble.

Julie thats not a small victory! I can't get anywhere near brodick for medicinal purposes since I had to put Hibiscrub on his muzzle when he had teenage acne...If I as much as approach him with a medicine looking implemet he is off like a shot and he can wriggle out of my grip like a well greased eel. Brushing him is even worse, its the most exciting thing ever (maybe even more than seeing Ducks) as it involves A Brush, he loves brushes, and I cannot get him to sit still. not even for a sardine. I'm lucky if I can get 2 swipes of brushing. so I think that is a pretty good victory for you...I've never tried clicker training him to be brushed, but I will now!

That's really impressive. Well done :) I can't get Harley to sit still to be brushed or have her teeth brushed, so I know how much hard work is involved! It is a really big thing in my opinion x

I think that's fantastic - no small achievement at all. Really impressive.

Sensible Hattie! I'm afraid, on seeing the ear drop bottle, Charlie thought "oh no, not more stuff in my ears - I know, I'll leg it round the kitchen, snatching as many treats as possible". This is his 8th ear infection in 9 months though. :'(

Aw poor boy it's so miserable for him :'( Hattie has had her fair share and accepts the drops/flush, Charlie will accept it as he gets older I'm sure. Give him a hug from us xx

The one he has now is the worst yet. :'( making it worse by scratching. :'(

We've got extra strength drops, but if it's not better tomorrow, back to the vet.

Poor Charlie.....its just not fair is it...... :(
Have you tried piriton? Is it worth asking the vet if it might help?

    Re: Small victory!

I am sorry Julie, poor Charlie. Is there nothing that can be done permanently about his ear infections, that is such a lot for a young dog to put up with? I know you have said before it has been looked into so just wondered if any further investigation now he is older could be done ??? It seems so unfair with everything else he is going through at the moment :'(

Yes, we are now thinking it's an allergy - particularly since in Cornwall, once we got the ear infection the he arrived with cleared up, he didn't get more. Previous theories about ph balance look less likely now. We're having some blood tests next week.

Bloody hell, sorry, but gosh. I'm lucky, I can manage the London vet's bills, but really...our luck is going to change soon...

Good for you, Julie! But sorry about the ear infection. Honestly, I don't know how you manage it, the expense for sure, but all the other stuff that you are coping with. :(

You are going to have a MARVELLOUS summer, right?? :)
