I took Sam for a walk early afternoon, the walk ended with a treat for him , a retrieving session in a nearby field . He was, as usual, in the thick of it and then on the way home, he began sneezing , sneezed all the way home and is still ( 4 hours later ) having the odd sneezing fit . He ate his dinner just fine, is drinking and seems ok but he hates it when I sneeze and so is quite upset at his own . The pollen count is fairly high , he hasnt any skin irritation but am wondering if dogs can develop a sort of Hay Fever ? Odd though, that this didnt happen last year ?

Poppy had the sneezes when she came back from kennels once - turned out she had a cold, just like a human! But it seems more likely that Sam either has an allergic reaction, or perhaps he got something up his nose. If it's not stopped tomorrow I'd take him to the vet.

Just come back from the Vet ,he looked up Sams nose with an otoscope but couldnt see anything at all , but said that this isnt to say that there is a seed or something much higher up so has given us a small course of hydrocortisone to open the airways and allow anything up there to be sneezed out . He said that due to Sams habit of diving through thickets , it could be that a twig has scratched him high up in his nose . So, just to keep an eye open for continued sneezing or discharge and take him back if it doesnt clear . Ironically, since we got back half an hour ago, he hasnt sneezed, typical ::)

Not a single sneeze today Barbara , I think its one particular tree/plant that affects Sam , the sneezing fits are something else to witness, poor lad ::)

:) :) he really does go for it , incredible noise and they go on and on and on, must be pollen in his nose, he runs with his nose on the ground, in fact I often wonder how he doesnt bump into trees ;D

When my old dog used to sneeze he'd slam his nose into the ground every time. It was almost too much to watch. With a schnozzle that big, it had to hurt!
