Re: Snow deafness If she's in play with me mode she has good hearing. Otherwise she can be as deaf as a post. In the water meadow this morning and lady was focussed on an interesting smell under the snow. I'd walked on about 200 yds day dreaming and not noticing she wasn't with me. She looks up. I squats down flaps arms out wide and toots. "The express train arriving at platform 10 is LADY"! ;D Proper Lab flat out sprinting. No sign of a limp by the way.
Re: Snow deafness We have snow this morning I cant walk Sam because the footpaths are sheet ice but been playing with him in the garden, he is another snow deaf lad
Re: Snow deafness It has played havoc with my lead work!! 5 month old pup doing that leaping about in the snow thing at the end of a lead - usually pretty good when there's no distraction.....guess the snow is just one BIG distraction....and its EVERYWHERE....
Re: Snow deafness Charlie on a harness as the pavements are now thick ice and I certainly do not want him taking me skating ;D. Hattie ever so good and seems to know that I am pathetic so she walks very slowly watching out for me all the time. Helen x
Re: Snow deafness How lucky for you that you have Hattie to show Charlie how it is meant to be done!!!
Re: Snow deafness Hi Everyone, I'm brand new to the site and just having a read around the Forum and couldn't help replying to this thread. My little Lab/Beagle cross ( we call her Kizzy Beagledore) has most definitely had a case of Snow Deafness over the last few days. On opening the door to the garden and discovering the "white stuff" was back she leapt out and careered madly round and round ( if she'd been a kid she would have been whooping and hollering) . Despite repeated calls to come back in and brandishing her favourite treats she just dashed past me grinning....she only came back when she was utterly exhausted
