He's clearly in a lot of pain and I just destroyed it looks real bad. I'm hoping its not his cruciate but I'm very very worried. All i could do was hug him. I'v e cold packed him and he's off to the vets soon I hate it when they are in pain its horrible I feel so helpless.

Oh no, poor boy. What did he do? I mean when you say he hurt himself?

Let us know how you get on at the vet.

I honestly don't know he was with me all day and was fine on his walks. He was fine when he went to bed no limping or discomfort that I could see. He was crated over night due to his night time washing machine eatting activities and could not move this morning. Can't work out if its his back even. Just had to hug him and sit with him. He is reluctant to weight bare on it and is not putting his full weight on his toes its strange. Just hoping its a bad sprain. He's so unhappy, and has gone supper clingy, which does when he's very upset. My OH thinks I'm being silly but this is bad

Poor man.... Hopefully some anti-inflammatories or something can make him feel much better. It's always such a worry when they're feeling bad.

Hope all goes well at the vets and that it's nothing to worry about.

I must be one of those owners then as I don't know when Juno is in pain except for when she starts limping. Having been born with ED, I and my Orthopaedic Surgeon came to the conclusion that basically she has always been in pain, but she is stoic and doesn't show it even when being examined. The only clue you get when she is being examined is self-calming signals.

Just a little surprised that you took Rory out for a walk this morning if he is in so much pain and couldn't move

There can be any number of small things that cause limping. It's always worth having a good inspection around the paw, toes and leg to see if its anything obvious.
We had trouble with out last lab until we found that she was very sensitive to one claw being touched. It turned out that she had an infection underneath the claw, which healed quite quickly once the vet knew what was wrong.
I hope that its nothing serious, and please let us all know how it goes.

I hope the vet was able to discover the problem and give treatment. It is upsetting to see them I'll or in pain.

He was much better when I got back from work. I crated him and just did what I needed too and came home. Everyone in the office likes animals and loads of us have dogs including my boss so they all covered for me. He was less anxious and using the leg carefully but he was clearly in pain.
Got a taxi(labrador breeder driver) its got a wheelchair ramp so it was perfect for him. He barked at the vet which is normal for him before he goes in and like small children appeared as if there was nothing wrong. His back was fine and his joints were fine. The vet thinks he's got sprain. His left leg is the worst but the right is sore too. He stretched moved proded and flexed and everything seemed ok. He's on cage rest and slow short walks for a few days. The vet did not want to give him anything as he suffers from colitis and had had an upset tum that morning as well as leg problems. He;s got no temp so it rules out anthing viral. Its just watch and wait for a few days and if he's not better and his stomachs ok we will try some anti inflams.
He been sitting with me for most of the day and being clingy which he always does when he's worried or upset so thats been good for making him rest. At tea time he stole a shoe which showed he was feeling a bit better. So it rest a see what happens. I'll book him a physio appt too and see if I can do a bit of physio to improve things for him.
It was so frightening I hate it when something dramatic happens. Its a real worry I've got a dog with severe problems already and fostered a dog with spinal injuries and Rory was moving like the spinal injury dog. So scared and upset yesterday.

thanks for all the kindness and support.

Hi Rosemary I saw weird suit rubber man on Sunday morning and Rory was limping and in pain on monday morning I just did one post first and did not want to talk about his leg because I was just too upset. I try to keep it light on the site as some things are just too upsetting to talk about. I did post in the end because sometimes i can get some useful info from everyone and is so kind.
I was also taking about sudden onset pain not chronic pain. They seem 2 very different things. The pain that is a sudden and very specific in cause is much easier to pick up and deal with than the chronic. Chronic pain is sneaky because it always been present or just creeps on slowly.
Sorry if I didn't explain myself properly no offence was intended and i was just all over the place yesterday and very stressed.

So glad it seems like it's something that will clear up on its own! That's a relief!

Hopefully so. I've just got to be very careful and as you say keep everything crossed. Getting a labrador through its first few years is a real tightrope walk
