Just had to tell you that David just returned from an early morning walk with Hattie and Charlie. Everyone around here is walking early due to the heat, so he met two of our elderly lady neighbours one with a Flat Coat (bitch) used to be a nasty girl and the other a 9 month Cocker Spaniel (bitch). David called out to them in the field and asked would they mind Charlie joining them to have a little socialisation?, "no problem". Charlie was on his long training line, he approached had one little bark and they happily milled around each other for about 10 minutes, no problems at all. These were the two dogs that Charlie barked and lunged at only yesterday.

On the way out of the field David spotted Sid a very large Boxer (dog) that is not nice, they bark/lunge at each other every time they meet, so David being David dived into the crops ;D as he thought lets end on a good note. All dogs in our village have a problem with Sid, he has never been socialised and is on his own all day every day poor boy.

A good start. Helen xx :)

Well done! Sounds like great progress.

But poor Sid... of course, you can't risk your progress with Charlie if Sid is Snapping Sid... but can't help feel sorry for him.

Daisy is our horror - a big spaniel x something, bitch who bites Charlie if she gets the chance. On the upside, she is the one dog he will "heel" by beautifully, or rather, slink passed hiding behind our knees.

Brilliant to hear!what a great start! I so have to laugh at all the little asides in our stories that add color to the pictures in my mind....David diving into the crops! Hilarious ;D I feel sorry for Sid too,I guess everybody's lives are different but they are such big dogs to not get enough excercise.Theres 2 in one of the parks I go to,one plays with Dex,the other is 8 and just climbs up n the picnic table and looks at the 2 crazy youths running round like nutters!I'm not kidding though they are both heavier than me so I wouldn't want to meet a grumpy one! ???

Fabbo!! Well done Charlie - and David too! Would have liked to see the dive into the crops... There are just times when discretion is the better part of valour ;).

Believe me David is as much a nutter as Charlie. I can't even begin to imagine the scene: David, Thomas my youngest on his bike with Hattie and Charlie all diving into the crop heads popping up to make sure the coast is clear ::) I could make a comedy film of all our antics ;D

Thank you for all of your positive and helpful comments they keep me going. Helen xx
