With all of this wonderful weather we're having at the moment in the UK, we are bracing ourselves for an almighty thunderstorm at some point in the next few weeks. We thought it might be a good idea to play the sound of thunder on Spotify to get Luna used to it and then gradually increase the volume. It seemed to work a treat. My other half then decided to play some fireworks noises without warning me, which scared the living daylights out of me, but didn't seem to phase the pup :)

I just wondered if anyone else had done this and had any good suggestions of sounds we could find and play when we're at home, or if there are any collections of sounds that already exist out there that we could look up. I'm guessing sirens would be a good idea?

    Any thoughts gratefully received.

I’ve been using the dogs trust sounds sociable on soundcloud with Willow. Luckily she has lots of exposure to loud bangs on a day to day basis as we live near an army firing range and she doesn’t seem bothered but I wanted to make sure after having a collie cross who was terrified of thunder/fireworks etc. They have a range of normal noises to things like thunderstorms and fireworks.

Clix do a sounds and noises cd that has lots of different options on it, from vehicles to kids playing. If memory serves it includes a booklet with information on how to gradually increase the volume to get the dog used to each relevant one :)
