Juno and I had been enjoying a pleasant early evening stroll through the village when we were confronted by a not very nice dog . We were 4 houses and a small village lane away from home and passing a cottage which had it's front door standing open, As we were walking past the house a dog, a whippet, started barking, and then barking dog come flying out of the front door. In the blink of an eye the flying dog had crossed it's front lawn and launched itself over the front garden wall barking all the time to reach Juno and bark aggressively in her face. Juno really did me proud though, having a flying dog land right in front of her and barking like a thing possessed, she calmly looked at me and walked on in a lovely loose lead walk When I looked back the dog was still standing in the middle of the footpath and continuing to bark. No sign of owner/householder So proud of my girl today
What a good girl she is. HEre's hoping it was a lapse or mistake on the owner's part and it won't happen again. Have you ever seen those dogs before? Glad there was no encounter like the one my neighbour had. The dog who charged out of it's door at them was a Rottie and it put a 7 staple gash in his big old yellow Lab's back.
Luckily we don't see the dogs very much, although living only 4 houses away. I was telling OH about our experience this evening when he arrived back from Aberdeen to be told that it the same dog that flew cross a local field on Sunday to start barking in Juno's face Again Juno didn't react. I can see I'm going to have to make a complaint if the dog's behaviour continues
Well done Juno I would be monitoring it closely too and having a word if it happened again! Some people!
If the Whippet just ran up and barked at us, I would not be too concerned, but it may be a self limiting problem. When he/she does that to the wrong dog, I think the Whippet problem will be solved once and for all. Hopefully the owner will do something about it first.
It's pretty scary when that kind of thing happens but Juno handled it like a true professional, what a great girl. Hope she got lots of good treats for that xx
I know, I just don't want my dog to be the one that does it and then feel guilty because my dog has reacted to another dog . Interestingly Juno met a Dexter on Sunday morning's walk. She actually mistook him for her friend Duke - too many black Labs in the village . As she got close she realised it wasn't Dexter, as did OH. Dexter grumbled at Juno at which point she started sending nice calming signals to him and came a little closer. Dexter wasn't too happy but they ended up having a sniff and then having a little play together. It turns out that Dexter had been bitten on the face by another dog and now he's not too happy to be approached - surprise, surprise. Just as well it wasn't Dexter passing their house yesterday
Well done Juno for handling the nasty dog rushing and barking in your face. I hope it doesn't happen again and the owners do something about it ASAP. Poor Dexter, no wonder he was a bit reluctant to start with, lovely that he got a chance to play with Juno
Juno is a total star ignoring rude aggresive dogs and helping another dog who was frightened so sweet
