Hi all, sorry i havent been on in ages, been on holiday, had a family catastrophe and now currently looking after my aunties 10 weeks old working cocker puppy! So busy busy busy! I will put some pics up of her if i can (flickr is playing up with me). Anyway, we noticed that murphy keeps licking his front feet and when we looked the skin right underneath between his pads looks quite red and it also looks like there may be pus. I am reluctant to take him to the vets again if i dont need to as its becoming a standing joke how often I take him for things! Any ideas? Frankie x
Re: Sore skin between pads Soreness and pus between the toes would have me running to the vets immediately.
Re: Sore skin between pads It would be straight to the vet for me too Frankie. He may have grass seeds in between his toes and he could have chewed his foot and caused an infection. Grass seeds are pretty dangerous and can travel and cause problems and really irritate hence the constant licking/chewing. Hattie had them a few years ago and she had to have them surgically removed and the vet explained to me how awful this can be. Of course it might not be that but pus = vet. Let us know how Murphy is please. xxx
Re: Sore skin between pads Yup vets! (And ask if you get a discount for bulk visits ) Although seriously they really won't mind. A sweeping generalisation but things are usually easier to treat if caught early
Re: Sore skin between pads When the receptionist answers the phone at my vet's I say "it's me". ;D Hope he is ok.
Re: Sore skin between pads Lol Julie ;D I would definitely take Murphy to the vets, better to be safe x
Re: Sore skin between pads Just back from the vets. No grass seeds, just inflamed skin. So just putting fuciderm gel and washing with hibiscrub. She didnt charge me, thats the third time iv been there and they havent! Se sajd uv basically got shares in them lol. Although she did say this could be the start of allergies so need to watch out. X
Re: Sore skin between pads Frankie, get him checked out that will be painful for him I bet ....I never worry about going....you pay for your consultation,if it's nothing serious I'm in and out ,I don't take up a lot of time unnecessarily if it turns out to be something minor and my vets have never seemed to mind
When the receptionist answers the phone at my vet's I say "it's me". ;D
Something on this Forum makes me burst out laughing everyday! You are priceless Julie! ;D Modified to say I'm sorry Frankie ,I hadn't read the thread all the way to the end...glad it's nothing serious and also glad your mind will be at rest now, Get well soon Murphy x
Re: Sore skin between pads Glad it's nothing serious Frankie and lucky you having a vet that provides free treatment. Hope Murphy gets better really soon xx
Re: Sore skin between pads Glad you went today - was worried a bit when I read what you put up. Poor chap. Not so sure about that phrase "family catastrophe" - hope you are all okay
Re: Sore skin between pads I put the fuciderm gel on last night and it seemed to really hurt him as then he was limping quite bad Thanks Jaqui. Family catastrophe is just my mum announcing she has been having an affair with her assistant who is 20 years younger than her (and still loves with his mum!) and leaving my step dad for him. So everything has gone mad!
Re: Sore skin between pads Poor murphy it probably stung, it's so difficult when we can't explain it's for the best. Hopefully he'll feel a lot better soon! Ring the vet if you're worried though. And crikey! That's a bit of a turn up with your mum! Hope the madness abates too
Re: Sore skin between pads I hope Murphy's foot heals quickly Bit of a shock! Hope things settle down soon for you x
Re: Sore skin between pads Blimey! You just stay the calm at the centre of the storm, and everything will be ok.
Re: Sore skin between pads Oh Frankie..... Hope Murphy's finding his injury a little less painful today... And here's what you must do....... image by dexterpops02, on Flickr Xxx
Re: Sore skin between pads Hear, Hear Angela. Well Frankie......"At least no-one has died" sprang to my mind. I am sure the family is in turmoil though, so hope things calm down for you a bit. Hope you are not stuck as a piggy in the middle. Hope she thinks he's worth it!
